A Few Things to do in Southern Oregon

A few things to do in Southern Oregon! Southern Oregon has many activities to offer and unique sights to see. It’s an area filled with history dating back hundreds of years.  Here are some activities for you to participate in that make living in Southern Oregon, more specifically Phoenix, Oregon (because we are so close to things to do), a GREAT place to be!!

Visit the Oregon Shakespeare Festival – Go see a live showing of a play is not something you can do just anywhere. All summer the Oregon Shakespeare Festival has multiple showings of different plays in Ashland (about 15 minute drive south off the I5). With an intense attention to detail, each play will transport you to a different time and place if only for a couple hours.

Day Trip to Lake of the Woods – Lake of the Woods was discovered in 1870, and over a hundred years later it’s still an amazing place to visit. Lake of the Woods offers many public beach areas for you to park and take a short walk down to. It’s a perfect place to cooldown for the summer or even to explore the surrounding woods! As in the name, there’s a dense forest surrounding the lake with public trails to go explore!

Tour the Oregon Caves – The Oregon Caves is a national monument located just east of Cave Junction. While the name is plural, it is one singular cave with numerous passages. Exploring the cave itself is guided, but just outside, there are a few other things to do like going for a hike and viewing wildlife. There’s a hiking trail that leads to the “Big Tree,” which is the widest Douglas Fir in Oregon!

Hike Both Upper and Lower Table Rock – Created by a lava flow around seven million years ago, these two plateaus are now popular hiking trails known for their abnormally flat surfaces! Home to many different species of wildlife, going for a hike here will ensure a unique experience with different sights to see and an outstanding view of the valley at the top. Upper Table Rock is around 3.2 miles while Lower Table Rock is 6.2.
